What You Will Learn
Network+ certification gives you the skills you need to install, administer and troubleshoot computer networks and their components in a variety of computing environments.
You will gain comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience in these critical areas:
- Logical and physical topologies such as Star, bus, mesh, and ring
Characteristics of each of the Ethernet (802.3) standards including speed, length, topology, cabling, and connectors - Use of various hardware components such as hubs, switches, routers, gateways, Network cards and modems
- Network standards: including OSI model, addressing, protocols, interoperability and naming conventions
- TCP/IP suite: including IP addressing, subnetting, and default subnet masks
WAN Technologies: including Frame-Relay, ISDN, FDDI, T1/E1, T3/E3 and ATM
Remote Access: including protocols, services and the latest security protocols
Network Implementation: including shared services under Unix, Netware and Windows operating systems - Authentication methods, firewalls, and proxies

Prerequisites
In addition to having a high school diploma (or the equivalent), it is suggested that candidates for the Network+ certification track should have a basic understanding of the Windows operating system (either Windows 2000, ME 98, 95, NT 4.0, NT 3.51).
Although it is not required, prior experience with networking components is recommended. If you are a beginner, don’t worry. Our entire system is set up to support you.
